Q. How will I know which level of care is appropriate?
A. Caring for your loved one and providing the right level of care is at the heart of everything we  do. A wellness evaluation will be completed by a licensed health care provider to determine which level of care will meet the specific needs and desires of your loved one.

Q. What home care services do you offer?
A. Home Care is characterized by a distinctive combination of individualized care, warm home and neighborhood surroundings and professional expertise. Those who choose services will enjoy ongoing wellness evaluations and levels of care that address their specific needs. Our licensed, compassionate staff members are always available to assist with daily tasks, while wide ranging care services provide the time and opportunity to enjoy the things that matter most.

Q. How does memory support differ from home care?
A. We understand that memory loss, whether Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, affects more than just one person. That’s why we work with not only the client, but also with their family members and caregivers, to find the perfect balance of respect and care from day to day.  Our program is structured to enhance residents’ confidence in an environment that promotes choice and celebrates accomplishments through familiar schedules and surroundings.

Q. What is the difference between Alzheimer’s disease and dementia?
A. Dementia refers to the loss of intellectual functions (thinking, remember, reasoning) of sufficient severity to interfere with a person’s daily functioning. It is not a disease itself, but rather a group of symptoms that may accompany certain diseases or conditions. Dementia is irreversible when caused by disease or certain injuries. It may be partially or fully reversible when caused by drugs, alcohol, depression or imbalances in certain substances, such as hormones or vitamins. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. It is a progressive, degenerative disease of the brain, characterized by loss of function and death of nerve cells in several brain areas, leading to loss of recent memories and new learning first, and eventually old memories, too.

Q. What are the important signals that a loved might need help?
A. Older adults have highly sensitive radar that’s tuned in to the signals we send when we’re about to tamper with their control over their future. Keep in mind that you’re partnering with your family member to solve a particular need or issue in their lives. You’re not taking a one-sided approach, telling them what to do or what is best. Your signal to them needs to be genuine and communicate collaboration – that you’re on their side.

Q. What if my loved one needs more assistance than that provided in assisted living or memory support?
A. Skilled Nursing offers clients comprehensive round-the-clock licensed care, including regular wellness evaluations. Whether the need is for more hands-on assistance with routine activities or rehabilitation services such as physical, speech or occupational therapies, skilled nursing provides a high level of clinical care to ensure each individual’s needs are met, and provides peace of mind for those who love them.

Q. Is Harvard Partners right for my loved one?
A. Only you can decide. Call us today at (206)679-5205 or (425)822-6979 to schedule a personal appointment.

Q:What kind of services do you provide?
A: We provide all levels of care, as your needs progress, our team is here to help you. Home care is designed to take over or assist in the activities that are needed for your loved one, to be able, to stay at home safely  and with dignity.

Q: Do you actually provide services in assisted living facilities?
A: Yes. People sometimes discover that the assistance provided in an assisted living facility is not enough to enable them to remain independent. In these cases, Harvard Partners provides a person to make this possible. In some states you are allowed to hire private help in an assisted living facility – or nursing home for that matter.

Q: What does “AGING IN PLACE” mean?
A: This refers to the ability of any person to grow old in their own home or that of their family. It is the opposite of institutional residential care like a nursing home. Sometimes it may mean the ability, with extra help, to stay in an assisted living facility as well.

Q: Can this help my parents conserve the assets they have worked all their lives to build?
A: Most families would rather see their assets spent keeping their elderly family members at home and independent rather then have them taken away.

Q: Does the company provide back up coverage?
A: At no time will our client be left unattended during prearranged schedules.

Q: Are the caregivers insured while working in my home?
A: Yes they are insured.

Q: How much will this cost?
A: Harvard Partners Home Health is committed to keeping the cost of home care as low as possible. Home care offers your loved one many advantages and you will find that it can be the most cost effective solution. We accept
private health insurance and workers compensation insurance and long-term care insurance. We work with all long-term care insurance companies and can guide you through the process of filing a claim.

Q: Can I change the schedule if I have appointments?
A: Changes are easily accomplished with as little as 48-hour notice. Our philosophy is to make the schedule work for the family. You come first. Your needs, your requests, your schedule. We will do everything possible to make sure the schedule you want is the schedule you get.

Q: How do I start services?
A: Call (425) 822-6979 or (206) 679-5205. We will have our staff come to your home and conduct a free, no obligation assessment. We will then, at your direction, identify caregivers who have the skills, personality and availability to assist you.
